Paula Dennan

Dip.Psych(Clinc), M.Soc.Sc.(Hons), MNZPS, ICP, MSESNZ Registered Psychologist (Clinical).

Paula works in private practice in Parnell Auckland as a Registered Clinical Psychologist. She is an Accredited Sex Therapist with Sex Therapy New Zealand as she has a special interest in working with couples with emotional and sexual relationship/ intimacy issues. Paula believes each person has a unique history of experiences and skills which influence their thinking, feelings and behaviour. She enjoys working collaboratively developing the goals for therapy and generating new possibilities towards these goals. Paula also provides consultancy for a range of issues (e.g.anxiety and panic attacks, grief therapy, emotional and/or sexual abuse and depression/mood disorders).

 I work in private practice providing therapy for individuals and couples, and I also work as a senior therapist at the Burnett Centre, New Zealand Aids Foundation.

My work has a special focus in relationship issues, sexual problems, gender identity conflicts, HIV issues, sex addiction, refugee and migration issues.  I am fluent in English and Spanish. I am a Registered Psychotherapist, I hold a Masters in Health Science in Psychotherapy. I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists. At present, I am completing the Advanced Sex Therapy Training offered by the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland. 
 

Through my professional and personal experience, I have found psychotherapy to be the most powerful tool to work out the emotional and psychological pain that prevents a person living a fulfilling life.

Drs. Cogn. Psy; M.Sc. Clin. Psy.; NZ registered Clinical Psychologist, NIP registered, member of NZPS.

Laura is a registered Clinical Psychologist, trained in the Netherlands. She has a Doctorandus degree (equivalent to a Master in Science) in Cognitive Psychology, an additional Master degree in Clinical Psychology, and is registered with the Dutch institute for psycho-diagnostic testing (NIP). She is a member of the New Zealand Society for Psychologists (NZPS), and currently completing her training in Advanced Sex Therapy at Auckland University.

 

Laura migrated to New Zealand in 2009 after spending a number of years living and working in Holland and Latin America. She is fluent in English, Dutch and Spanish and skilled in working with people from various cultural backgrounds. Her experience in the field of psychology has centered around Alcohol & Drug addiction, Domestic Violence, Sexual abuse, Sex Offender treatment, and currently Adult Mental Health. Besides working for a Community Mental Health Center, she practices privately in Auckland Central.

 

Laura has a special interest in helping people come to understand, and feel comfortable with, who they are. She offers a safe and professional environment to explore and resolve issues around sex, gender identity, intimacy and relationships.


Our South Auckland  Trainee Sex Therapist Jenny Manuera-Jones

Jenny Manuera Jones 

Jenny has 17 years experience as a qualified and experienced Therapist/Counsellor and works in Private practice in Ponsonby and Takanini and also 1 day a week in Hamilton.  She provides short and long term counseling for both individuals and couples and has extensive experience working with relationship couple work. Jenny describes herself as a very down to earth person who is committed to empowering people and enhancing them in their personal quality of life in relationships and others.  Jenny, who has completed her STNZ advanced training in Sex Therapy but is completing supervised practice, has a real passion for this particular aspect of practice.
