Dennis Mills is one of our Christchurch therapists
Dip.Psychotherapy & Counselling, Cert Social Work,
Dip. Community Development, MNZAC.
The aim of my work as a sex therapist is to encourage optimal personal satisfaction and intimacy for individuals and couples in a respectful and safe atmosphere free of judgement.
I specialise in working with people who are stuck in damaging habits of interpersonal conflict, with Out of Control Sexual Behaviour (sexual addiction) and I have particular interest in exploring blocks to sexual desire in men and women and in the part that play and humour has in the maintenance of a fully alive relationship.
I also work with clients who are seeking strategies to recover from an affair and others who wish to end a relationship with integrity. Increasingly I am meeting clients who are wondering about the absolute nature of lifelong monogamy.
I am in private practice in Merivale, Christchurch. I completed advanced sex therapy training in 2005 but have worked as a relationship counsellor for twenty years in New Zealand and in the UK.
I also work at the University of Canterbury Health Centre and have skills and experience with issues including depression and stress and anxiety and I encourage the maintenance of physical and mental well-being.
Before moving to New Zealand I was a social worker in child protection and spent several years working with men in violent relationships.
