Gorham sees STNZ clients in his private practice in Hillcrest, Hamilton. His fee is negotiable after the first two sessions. As a science teacher, Gorham taught programmes in Sex Education and trained teachers in this field. His specialities as a counsellor are relationships (including Family Court counselling and conciliation), sexuality, loss and grief, transitions and life coaching. Gorham sees human sexuality as being a core part of our being and, for most of us, critical to a fulfilling expression of our selves. As a couples counsellor Gorham has worked with sexual issues right through his counselling. He attended Robyn Salisbury’s sex therapy training courses as a refresher, and has worked with STNZ since 2004. Gorham’s general approach to counselling is to listen to each client carefully as individuals and as a couple, responding to their thoughts and feelings and seeking to understand their worlds, so he can be clear on what they hope for from counselling. Then he works with them by providing information or coaching, or by problem solving with them, or by using deeper therapeutic techniques. Through this, he helps clients to extend their own skills, knowledge and power so they can enhance the quality of their lives and their relationships. He works with STNZ clients on whatever sexual matters are of concern for them, whether as individuals or as couples.
